Elaborate Lobby, Loop

As extravagant as this lobby appears to be, it's hard to imagine people walking out after having a bad day.

The Berghoff, Adams Street

This image was taken during a relatively quiet hour in the Loop the day after Christmas.  The scene has a small town feel to it that is partly due to the architecture and darkness along with the lack of traffic.  The history of The Berghoff began in my hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana in the late 1800's.  The German immigrant Herman Berghoff opened up a brewery in Fort Wayne in 1882.  After much success he decided to open The Berghoff bar and restaurant in Chicago in 1898.  I attended a photography exhibit earlier last year, so I was able to try the Berghoff beer.  Dinner plans are on the agenda in the near future!

Stop!

This guy didn't seem to be in much of a hurry.  He must live nearby.
