Night Lights

A band of orange and blue lights surround the 100th floor of the John Hancock Center celebrating the Bears making it into the playoffs.  Below is the Palmolive Building and its Lindbergh Beacon. 

Lindbergh Beacon

Pictured is the Lindbergh Beacon that sits a top the Palmolive Building 
located on the north end of the Magnificent Mile.  For decades itserved as a 
navigation aid for pilots to guide them safely to Midway Airport.   But in 1981 the 
rotating beacon seized functional operation as taller skyscrapers surrounded the neighborhood.  Residents complained the light was shining through their windows.  
In 2000 when the Palmolive Building was renovated into condominiums the beacon 
was modified to rotate back and forth across Lake Michigan.
