4 Year Anniversary, Chicago

• Today marks the 4 year anniversary of my move to Chicago.  I am inspired by the beauty in this city everyday!  It wasn't long after I was settled in that I purchased a new camera and renewed my love for photography.  In October 2010 I created this blog as a way of staying committed to to practicing the art on a regular basis.  I am constantly brainstorming for new projects, but many of my past ideas have not been completed.  Here's a list of 10 projects and shooting assignments that I would like to finish by this time next year.

1. Go to Wicker Park and for street photography, day and night.
2. Shoot street photography in Pilsen, at and around18th Street.
3. Complete my Portraits of Chicago project
4. Shoot murals and street art in various neighborhoods in the city, particularly Rogers Park, Edgewater, and Pilsen.
5. Complete a glass skyscraper assignment highlighting various buildings and angles.
6. Include short captions with every photo in a blog post.
7. Reorganize my website and include captions and short narratives for my photos and portfolios.
8. Create a short video of Chicago street photography set to music and post it on YouTube and Vimeo.
9. Complete my NYC street photography and architecture portfolios.
10. Master flash photography.

Gold Coast Skyline

These images were taken at dusk from the Lake Shore Boardwalk in the Gold Coast.  A few steps back and to the right I would have ended up in the lake.  I've taking the bike out to the lake front trail lately.  This area in particular is where Lake Shore Drive begins to bend as you head to the north side of the city.  From the boardwalk you can get some towering views of the Hancock Center and surrounding buildings.  It's also a great way to the see the Gold Coast high rises hovering over Lake Shore Drive.  I suppose if I played around with Photoshop I would be able to bring out the reflections of the sunset over the lake.
